Happy to announce one of our special events; a great local headliner!
Jamie Cook is from Detroit, Michigan and has been living in Japan for a long time. He’s a writer, comedian and pivotal part of the Tokyo comedy scene, having co-founded Stand Up Tokyo years ago and helped bring a lot of great comedy shows to this city. His sardonic take on Tokyo life and his world travels will have you in stitches.
Jamie’s feature acts for this show are Edo Berger from the Netherlands and Adam Hopkins, a British comic based in Taiwan.
Edo Berger won several Dutch comedy festivals before expanding to performing in English. His performances have brought him to Edinburgh, Budapest, Oslo, Moscow and Tokyo, among others. He also shot and directed a documentary about the comedian’s love for anecdotes about horrible comedy gigs, called Dictator of Comedy.
Adam Hopkins is a Taipei-based comedian from the UK who performs across Taiwan with Two Three Comedy. Previously a regular at Kung Fu Komedy in Shanghai, he was a finalist at the 2018 China International Comedy Festival, performed at the Hong Kong International Comedy Festival and will be competing in this year’s Bangkok International Comedy Competition. He’s opened for the likes of Kyle Kinane (Netflix), Mike Vecchione (Comedy Central) and Dean Edwards (Saturday Night Live), as well as writing for both BBC radio and Taiwanese television.

What is it?
Our flagship Tokyo comedy show, all in English every Wednesday; featuring some of the best of Tokyo’s comedy talent as well as up-and-coming stars. We’re here to make you laugh with a skewed look at life in Japan, and an international perspective seen from the eyes of comedians hailing from every corner of the world. Obviously, when you go to watch a Stand Up Tokyo comedy show, you get all this and more!
Where is this Tokyo comedy paradise?
The show is held at Good Heavens bar – known for their thirst quenching fine drinks, excellent British food (believe me, it is possible!) and plenty of tables from which to enjoy a night of English-language comedy. Not only that, but of course the best Tokyo comedy, all in the surroundings of the uber-hip Shimokitazawa area.
How do I get there?
Just jump on either the Inokashira Line from Shibuya or the Odakyu Line from Shinjuku, either way, it’s just a 5-7 minute ride. Make sure to get the express if you can, the fastest way to get to Tokyo comedy!
Who could I see?
Great acts such as Hannibal Burress, Eric Andre, Yuriko Kotani, Phil Nichol, Matt Okine, Phil Wang and Steve Bugeja have popped up on this stage so you never know who you will see! But laughter is guaranteed with our amazing Tokyo comedy shows.
How much is it?
1500 yen incl free house drink for an international headliner and local support. So, it’s a real bargain! Also, make sure you try the tasty pub food from the Good Heaven’s staff! We have lovely fish and chips to enjoy while you’re watching the rising stars of Tokyo comedy. We are proud to say the event is no-smoking, but you can smoke outside the venue during the break in the middle.
