August’s Stand-up Round-up

August has been as busy as it has hot, and we certainly had a lot of highlights!

Wednesdays at Good Heavens

Our regular Wednesday standup shows have been host to some brilliant special guests as well as our regulars and some great newcomers too. To start the month, JR de Guzman entertained one of our biggest crowds so far with his songs and comedy all the way from the Phillipines via California.

Sam See and Rudy Tyburczy dropped by mid-August for a memorable Wednesday evening filled with laughs and the NHK film crew (we’ll keep you updated for the tv dates!).

To round off the month we were treated to a fantastically busy night with 10 comedians, including our emmy-award winning guest Matt Koff on the 31st. With barely any standing room left, stories of bare-foot protests, holidays in Thailand and irrational fears of werewolves meant the audience had no complaints at all.

The Comedy Sumo Slam

We hosted our Comedy Sumo Slam in Roppongi – a panel-show style treatment of the weekly news with our top comedians tackling all the tough issues…

Live Japanese Comedy

Our Japanese comedy show was another success, it’s growing every month and this week was host to a brilliant audience as well as the performers!

So it’s been a jam-packed August for Stand-Up Tokyo and we hope you managed to join us for some of it! We’ll be starting all over again in September with more stand-up, sumo-slams and more, so keep an eye on our events page!
